Call To Action
Professional Development within the district is established at the onset of the school year and continues throughout. The aim is to equip teachers with necessary tools from the start and provide support during the initial half of the year. Monthly Professional Learning (PL) sessions are organized to offer feedback, assistance, demonstration, collaborative teaching, and role-playing, ensuring teachers feel confident in integrating new skills into their classrooms. Surveys are administered at the commencement of the PL to assess teachers' proficiency levels, and again at the midpoint of the year to evaluate ongoing needs for support, modeling, or additional strategies in the latter half of the year, ensuring staff feel empowered in their learning and implementation processes.

The Story Behind The Story

As a Reading Coach, I do many PLs for my campus and district. I have seen people bored in my session even though I know my PLs are full of knowledge and good information. How can I improve my PLs and empower their learning? I now know based on the reading that teachers need more than one session. Teachers need ongoing development, time to implement, and for me to provide feedback. Just as students need time to soak in the new skills they learned, teachers also need time to practice, collaborate, and discuss with their peers. Teachers need meaningful PLs to increase their knowledge and improve their skills which will result in increase student engagement.

We as educators must continue to learn new skills and evolve in our practices. We must provide Meaningful, Engaging PLs to make that happen.

Developing My Call to Action: How to
I started by choosing the program I wanted to use for my video. I wasn't really comfortable with using Canva but I knew I wanted to challenge myself. I began by thinking of what title I wanted to create to get the audiance attention. I began to write my script and writing things I wanted to say to make it more interesting. What quotes or things I wanted to use from the videos I watched to get my point across.

Now, my next task was to find the perfect images that will deliver the message I was trying to convey. My goal was to capture the audience and make an impact (Duarte 2013). Once I found the perfect images, It was time to add all the notes to the presentation to facilitate me. I was ready to record once everything came together. I hit the record button and began speaking. Once I was done, I was able to play it back a few times and decided if I needed to record again. I had to record it a few times as I was really nervous and kept messing up. Finally, I was happy with my video and recording and it was time to submit.
