EDLD 5315 & EDLD 5317 Contribution
I would rate my contributions to my learning and community at 91 out of 100 for both EDLD 5315 and EDLD 5317. I feel confident that I fulfilled all the key contribution requirements.
Key Contributions
1. As an educator, it is important to always look back and reflect on what worked and what I could do better for next time. Throughout the courses, I feel like I consistently reflected on my peers' feedback and the feedback from graded assignments. I also reflected each time after I created the assignments and questioned how I could do better. I think reviewing my work and asking for peer feedback really helped me with the assignments. The action research was hard to understand when coming up with my research question, but asking for feedback was great and put my mind at ease. I also reflected on my publication draft and how I could make changes.
2. I provided feedback to my peers in our GroupMe App for both classes 5315 and 5317. My core group for 5317 were Randa Harris, Caryn Tate, and Gladys Enrique-Ruiz. We shared our assignment and provided feedback. In both classes, I was able to ask questions and contribute by assisting others with their inquiries. I feel that I made significant contributions in both GroupMe chats by providing feedback and answering questions from my peers. I felt more confident in these two tech classes than in the previous two, allowing me to provide feedback to my peers and be more involved.
3. After each assignment, I consistently reviewed feedback from my peers and colleagues, while also reflecting on each class session. Throughout the course, I continually sought ways to enhance my contributions. I diligently revised my assignments based on the feedback received and streamlined my portfolio to improve the user experience, incorporating those revisions effectively. I was able to effectively incorporate the feedback my peers provided on my publication rough draft, making additional changes accordingly. Additionally, I sought feedback on my action research outline to ensure the research question was strong and would yield valuable insights based on my research. I also shared my wix site so my peers can provide feedback on how it looked and what else I could add to it.
4. Managing summer school, two online courses, a one-year-old, and a hurricane was quite challenging, but I managed to watch all videos and most of the supporting resources. I did struggle with keeping up with the readings, but I did my best. Despite this, I attended every class and actively participated. I truly enjoyed attending the classes and being engaged.
5. I consistently submitted all assignments on time, even during our hurricane I was able to submit all my assigned and meet the extension deadline. I promptly revised my portfolio publications following feedback. I actively engaging in all discussion posts, I endeavored to stay on track with the weekly schedule, closely adhering to each week's requirements to the best of my ability. It was a bit challenging and stressful trying to work with our daily blackouts during the storm but I got it done.
Supporting Contributions
1. My leadership contributions to both groups were highly involved. I checked GroupMe daily and assisted my peers with any questions they had. Additionally, I initiated my base group to collaborate on the assignment for 5317 and provided prompt feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed taking a leadership role and supporting my peers this time around.
2. I actively participated in all activities and consistently attended live classes. In EDLD 5317, I engaged in discussions and asked questions that benefitted both myself and my peers. In EDLD 5315, I contributed by asking questions during class and assisting my peers with their action research. I also volunteered to proofread papers and provide feedback when needed. While I posted on the discussion board and gave feedback, I acknowledge that I could have done so earlier in some instances.
3. I contributed to various forums such as discussion boards, live classes, and GroupMe chats. I aimed to provide timely feedback so that my peers had the opportunity to make any necessary changes. I shared my perspective and knowledge with my peers, drawing from my own experiences without needing to cite external sources. Additionally, I ensured to engage by commenting on at least two of my peers' posts in the discussion boards. However, I recognize that I could have improved my participation in the July 14th discussion boards for EDLD 5315, especially considering they were due during the expansion period; I should have completed them beforehand.
Overall, I truly appreciate the opportunity these classes provided me to collaborate with my peers, exchange feedback, and learn from each other. I found myself more engaged in EDLD 5317 and 5315 compared to the other two tech classes because I felt more experienced in these subjects. I felt capable of contributing and assisting peers in Section E who were initially confused, as these were their first classes—similar to how I felt last semester. I felt that I was able to contribute a lot more, which made me feel good about my role in the GroupMe chat. I also felt that I gained a better understanding of the TechClass this semester and how all these courses blended together, which was an experience I didn't have last semester. Overall, I really enjoyed the classes and collaborating with my peers.
EDLD 5389 & EDLD 5318
EDLD 5389 & EDLD 5318 Contribution
I would rate my contributions to my learning and community at 80 out of 100 for both EDLD 5318 and EDLD 5389. I feel confident that I fulfilled all the key contribution requirements, although there was one supporting aspect where I fell short.
Key Contributions
1. I engaged in collaboration with several classmates using various platforms such as email, GroupMe, and Facebook Messenger. Particularly, I closely collaborated with Graciela, Vaenesse, Tiffany, Caryn, and Ashley within a group setting. Additionally, I actively participated in a GroupMe application where I interacted with numerous peers, offering feedback on assignments, posing questions, and reflecting on their feedback in relation to my own assignments.
2. I actively contributed feedback to my core group and the GroupMe app once we exchanged our assignments. Vanesse and Graciela provided valuable insights on enhancing the engagement of my PL timeline and Google Classroom. Tiffany alerted me to broken links, which I promptly resolved on my Google Classroom platform. Following Vanesse's suggestion, I included specific dates and integrated graphic organizers into my work. Moreover, I offered constructive feedback to Belle to enhance her PL outline. I regularly logged onto the GroupMe app, offering feedback to my peers on assignments and addressing any questions they had. Additionally, I shared my assignments with a peer to assist her in organizing her PL timeline, and I also provided feedback on the Google Classroom feedback survey. Collaborating with peers and receiving diverse perspectives on improving our assignments was immensely fulfilling. I successfully applied the feedback received to refine both my course and PL, resulting in meaningful enhancements.
3. After each assignment, I consistently reviewed feedback from my peers and colleagues, as well as reflecting on each class session. Throughout the course, I continuously considered ways to enhance my contributions. I diligently revised my assignments based on received feedback and streamlined my portfolio to improve user experience and incorporate those revisions. Despite the initial challenge of navigating Google Classroom in the online course, I actively sought feedback and reflected on my progress while organizing the materials. In refining my Professional Learning (PL) timeline, I enriched it with additional details, articles, and videos to ensure educators had comprehensive resources for a better understanding of the PL concept.
4. I managed to cover the majority of the readings, although I must admit that I occasionally skimmed through certain sections and skipped a few paragraphs. Despite this, I made sure to attend every class session and even rewatched recordings to catch up on any potentially missed information, especially considering I had my one-year-old with me during class times. While I utilized a few resources, I found that the course offered an abundance of materials that I couldn't explore fully. However, I appreciated the wealth of supplementary resources available in both classes, providing valuable support whenever needed.
5. I consistently submitted all assignments punctually, never missing a deadline, and ensured to submit portfolio publications promptly after receiving feedback. Actively participating in all discussion posts, I made an effort to keep up with the weekly schedule to the best of my ability, adhering closely to each week's requirements.
Supporting Contributions
1. While I didn't initiate the creation of the GroupMe or Facebook Group, I actively engaged in answering questions and offering feedback to my peers within these platforms. I embraced leadership responsibilities by sharing my ideas and assignments, and some of my peers even used them as examples.
2. I believe I actively participated in all activities and consistently attended live classes. In EDLD 5389, I engaged in discussions about AI and various activities during the live sessions. For EDLD 5318, I contributed by asking questions during class and assisting my peers with ideas for the Google Classroom project. Additionally, I made a concerted effort to provide timely feedback on all discussion boards.
3. I made sure to actively participate in all course forums, consistently posting my assignments or questions in a timely manner to allow my peers ample opportunity to respond. I also took the initiative to review feedback to understand how I could improve my assignments and gauge their thoughts on my contributions to the discussion boards (DB). Although my contributions typically didn't include citations for readings or videos, as they often reflected my personal insights or thoughts to ponder relevant to the assignment, I made an effort to enrich the learning experience by providing at least two additional contributions based on my peers' responses or assignments.
Overall, I found the experience of collaborating with my peers to be incredibly rewarding. This was the first time during my Master's degree program that I had the opportunity to engage in such collaboration, and it provided valuable insights. Working with others offered diverse perspectives and significantly expanded my knowledge on improving assignments for PL and Google Classroom. Hearing different viewpoints was an excellent way to continue learning and grow professionally. Initially, I felt overwhelmed by the demands of both classes, resulting in the creation of two separate projects. However, upon reflection, I realized that I could have potential combined both courses into one comprehensive project. By integrating elements from each course, I could have delve deeper into a single project, tailored to meet the specific requirements of each class. I still found value and enjoyment in working on each separate assignment. Particularly, the collaboration aspect stood out as one of my favorites, offering rich opportunities for engagement and learning with my peers.
